Job Title: Senior Scientific Manager




Natural Capital Research (NCR) have a fantastic opportunity to join their highly successful and growing company. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Scientific Manager to oversee the delivery of our cutting-edge projects & to be a highly visible & trusted member of a talented team. We are seeking an experienced scientist / science manager who will be responsible for providing scientific oversight of projects and leadership in the delivery of high-quality written outputs in natural capital and spatial science more generally. The post holder will be accountable for the quality review of outputs and client interactions to ensure bespoke projects that are highly client-orientated. The post holder will need to develop excellent relationships with clients and be proficient in communicating the strategic benefits of NCR’s service offering to clients. Additionally, you’ll be skilled at managing employees either directly or indirectly.



  • Responsible for the oversight and operational delivery of projects to time and quality expectations

  • Responsible for authoring, contributing to or reviewing documents such as client reports, analysis and modelling

  • Together with the Head of Research, act as the primary source of scientific support for the design, analysis, reporting, and presentation of natural capital analyses

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant fields including government policy and regulators

  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with internal and external clients and science staff

  • Ensure performance meets or exceeds both the business and own personal goals/objectives

  • Provide training and scientific support and advice to relevant staff

  • Attend client meetings and represent Natural Capital Research as needed


  • Educated to PhD degree with recent relevant experience in spatial analysis and modelling and / or natural capital

  • Experience of working directly with clients ideally as a consultant or similar

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex results of computational analyses and concepts to diverse audiences

  • Expertise in spatial analysis and associated tools, technologies and data and with a working knowledge of key natural capital concepts

  • Ability to work on complex problems

  • Experience in the creation of analysis workflows and pipelines

  • Ability to demonstrate independent thought and to exercise judgment on the design and implementation of projects and program deliverables

  • Client-focused approach to work ethic

  • Good working knowledge of how to handle confidential information and data

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a flexible attitude to work assignments and new learning

  • Ability to manage multiple, varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritise workload with high attention to detail and quality

  • Able to motivate colleagues and build strong, effective and happy teams

  • Knowledge of R and Python and familiarity with cloud computing a plus
