Job Title: Spatial Modeller / Spatial Scientist – specialising in carbon sequestration
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
Natural Capital Research requires a skilled spatial modeller to specialise in carbon sequestration. The successful candidate will be educated to at least MSc degree level in a relevant subject such as forest ecology or plant-soil interactions and will have a good understanding of terrestrial carbon sequestration.
We are a small, expanding company working on cutting-edge scientific modelling for natural capital. Led by the global experts in their field, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a brilliant, highly motivated team.
The position offers the right candidate the opportunity to work on the delivery of innovative and high-profile natural capital modelling projects. You will have considerable experience of working with big-data and spatial modelling of ecosystems in GIS, R and Python. You will focus initially on learning and mastering existing methods before looking to refine them and to identify and develop novel approaches with the team.
Full training on the models will be provided by the Head of Research.

The initial contract will be full- or part-time for 12 months. The post-holder will have a 6 month probation period.
The salary will be up to £35,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time) depending on skills and experience. employees.
The post-holder will work in our office in central London.
Position within the Team:
Post-holder will be line managed by the Head of Research who will oversee their day to day activities and will assign and review their work.
